Ananthapura Lake Temple

Ananthapura is a small town situated 15 km away from Kasaragod. Ananthapura Lake Temple is the one and only Lake Temple in Kerala. It is a quarantined site with the temple encircled with water from all sides, presenting a majestic view. It is accessible by a bridge which connects to the temple.

Ananthapura Lake Temple is regarded as the original seat of Ananthapadmanabha, the idol of Sree Padmanabha Swami Temple, Thiruvananthapuram. The main attraction of this temple is open to all visitors regardless of caste or religion. Regular pooja is there at noon and evening. An old lone Crocodile still living in the lake. Its name is Babiya. It is like a guard to the temple. After pooja it comes out from the water to take prasadam from Poojari.

The Ananthapadmanbha statue is made up of 108 ayurvedic medicinal plants and the nervous system of lord is made as similar to human beings nervous system. It is believed that those nervous systems are still alive.
