Chottanikkara, a picturesque village located on the outskirts of Kochi, is renowned as an important religious destination in central Kerala. It is an attractive hamlet in the district of Eranakulam, offering tranquility and solitude for pilgrims.

Chottanikkara Temple is one of the most celebrated Hindu shrines of Kerala. The temple is located in Chottanikkara town, 17kms away from Ernakulam. Chottanikkara Amma - the mother Goddess, is the presiding deity of the temple. It is said that this deity was brought from Mookambika Temple in Kollur, Karnataka and therefore there is a presence of Mookambika (Saraswathy) Devi till 7am in the morning.

Adjacent to this image in the sanctum is an image of Vishnu in granite. Vishnu and Bhagawati together are referred to as Lakshminarayana. The prayers here address the deity as Amme Narayana, Devi Narayana and Lakshmi Narayana.
