Pathanamthitta is newly formed district which is situated near the western ghats. Pathanamthitta derived its name from two different words i.e 'Pathanam' (means an array of house) and 'thitta' meaning (on the river side). Thus district is quiet famous as it is located on the way to Sabrimala which is a very famous pilgrim centre. Pathanamthitta is also blessed with fertile land, temple, rivers, mountain ranges, variety of vegetables and spices.
