Kanyakumari, otherwise known as Cape Comorin is the southern most tip of the Indian Peninsula. Now in Tamilnadu state, Kanyakumari was once part of Kerala state. The mainland of Kanyakumari is a beutiful landscape situated in the adjoining point of three oceans namely the Arabian Sea, the bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean.

The spectacular views of sunrise and sunset in Kanyakumari is alluring to everyone. In some seasons the sunset and the moonrise can be seen almost at the same time which is a fascinating sight. Sunrise is visible all round the year, but sunset
in visible from October to March every year. The multicoloured sand of the beaches is unique.
The twin rocks admist the sea is the rich cultural heritage of India which are known as the Vivekananda Rock and the monument of Thiruvalluvar the saint.
The great Swami Vivekananda’s memorial is built on the rock about 200 meters from the shore. A great building and other adjoining halls are constructed on the rock. The meditation hall is quite comfortable for the people who wants to meditate in a calm atmosphere. Boat services are available to this beautiful monumental rock.
Swami Vivekananda came to Kanyakumari in 1892 and sat on meditation on this rock for two days. The vivekananda Memorial was constructed in 1970. The construction took 2081 working days with an average of 650 workmen working on it.
The Gandhi Memorial in Kanyakumari is where Mahatma Gandhi's burnt ashes put in a pot and kept for the public to see. After that it was immersed in the tri-oceans. The speciality of this memorial is that on October 2nd the sunrays directly fall in the place where the ashes kept.
Padmanabhapuram Palace, Udayagiri Fort, Akkay Aruvi Water falls, Tiruchendur, Suchindram are other tourist attractions of Kanyakumari.
