Munnar is one of the most beautiful Hill Stations In Kerala, situated at an altitude of 5000 to 8000 Ft above the sea level. Known as the Kashmir of South India, An interesting fact about Munnar is that it was once the summer resort of the erstwhile British Govt. Munnar Kerala is now known for its tourism destinations and tea plantations. Munnar Tea is one of the famous blend of tea in the world. Munnar in Kerala is essentially a tea town and consists of a vast sloping areas of tea plantations. Most of the tea plantations in Munnar are owned by Tata Tea. Coffee and cardamom plantations are the second largest agriculture here in Munnar. 90% of the local people in Munnar are working in tea plantations. Munnar has the best of exotic flora and fauna and the beautiful grassland. Neelakurinji is an alluring flower in the Munnar area which blooms once in 12 years. The word Munnar means the land of three rivers. The confluence of 3 river streams - Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala, is in Munnar. Munnar is also having the highest peak in South India which is Aanamudi. Munnar receives a heavy rain during June to Sept.

The Eravikulam National Park is one of the most attractive tourist places in Munnar situated in the Devikulam Taluk. Its beautiful mountain ranges and forest areas are mesmeric. It was declared as National park in 1978. Fort Munnar is also one of the most attractive site in Munnar.
