Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple

Thiruvananthapuram's most sacred Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Padmanabhaswamy Temple is a blend of Kerala and Dravidian style of architecture. It is a best example of South Indian architecture, with an impressive seven starey gopuram (tower). The temple was constructed in the Dravidian architectural style.

This Mahavishnu Temple is located inside East Fort, in Thiruvananthapuram - the capital city of Kerala. Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple is also one of the seven Parasurama kshetras in Kerala. This temple is renowned for its sculptural beauty. The tower at the entrance of the temple was built in 16th century.

It is believed that this temple was built in the 8th century. Marthanda Varma, the King of Travancore renovated the temple to its current structure. This temple is considered as the one of the 108 Divya Desams or Holy Abodes of God. The mural paintings in the temple interior are beautiful.

Around Rs 90000 Crore Gold Treasure found in Kerala Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple recently. Several gold coins and ornaments have been unearthed from the temple cell. The exact figure of the treasure has not been revealed so far.
