Vagamon

Vagamon is a hill station located in the Kottayam - Idukki border of Kerala state. It has a cool climate with the temperature between 10-23 degrees during a summer midday. It is situated 1,100 metres above sea level. Situated at an elevation of 1100 metres above sea level, wagamon is called the trekker's paradise because it is an ideal place for trekking and a beautiful tourist spot surrounded by the greenery of tea plantations, meadows, valleys and dales.

Vagamon in Kerala is about 60 km from Kottayam. The other attraction of this place is Kurisumala, a sky-scraping mountain with a small church on its peak. There is also a monastery on this hill, called Kurisumala Ashramam, which has a small community of ascetics who follow Christian faith but combines with it the Indian spiritual traditions and Gandhian thoughts. People of all faith are welcome to visit this place.

Vagamon is untouched by commercialization. Hence it is called sleeping town with awesome scenary and beautiful tea plantations. It is home for a large collection orchids. Vagamon has every facilities for trekking, rock climbing and mountaineering. Vagamon presents a very spectacular view. It is really one of the marvellous hill stations in Kerala.

The beauty of Vagamon is a unique experience and it is one of the must see places in Kerala. Vagamon is surrounded by 3 hills known as Murugan Hill, Kurisumala Hill and Thangal Hill. Kurisumala or the mountain of the holy cross is a spiritual place for the christian community in Kerala. The journey to Vagamon is exotic through the road with solid rock and pine forests on the sides. Vagamon is also known as the Scotland of Asia.
