Listed as one of Kerala's lonely beaches, Kizhunna Beach is beautiful, less crowded and pristine. Adorned by reddish and black cliffs and bordered by lush green palm plantations, Kizhunna Beach is the ideal place to relax, unwind and rejuvenate. People visit this picturesque beach on the weekends and enjoy sunbathing, walking on the beach and swimming. Snugly nestled between backwaters and the Arabian Sea, Alleppey has postcard-type backwaters, surreal islands, tropical vegetation, rolling coconut trees, picturesque villages, labyrinthine waterways, lonely beaches and luxury floating homes. Loved by luxury seekers and backpackers alike, this destination is a must-see for all. Located between the Kozhikode and Kannur districts in Kerala, Wayanad is all about beauty and green cover.
Some of the most exciting things a traveler can do in this beautiful mountain city are exploring mysterious caves, hiking through jungle heights, watching wildlife or enjoying boating on mystical islands. Officially known as the cultural capital of Kerala, Thrissur is another great place to explore in one day. In fact, it is from this place that Kerala gets a good part of its festive glitter, which is also one of the reasons why this place is famous for its festivals that attract tourists from far and near. The main highlights of this place are the Athirapally Falls, the Heritage Garden, the Museum of Archaeology and more. Home to the largest reserve in India, the Periyar Tiger Reserve, Thekkady is a great destination for a day trip. This is also one of those places where you can witness beauty in all directions since this place has little traffic and fuss. Also known as Calicut, Kozhikode is one of the most beautiful places for a quick day trip in Kerala. This coastal city is famous for its historic sites, culture and dining experiences. When you're here be sure to visit the central Kozhikode Beach which is dominated by an old lighthouse and is one of the best places to witness a beautiful sunset. Alleppey or Alappuzha is one of the best-known places to visit in Kerala for its backward culture and floating houses. This is the largest backwater area in Kerala and is connected to dozens of canals, lakes and waterways; there's even a public ferry to get around instead of a bus.
This area is also known for being the birthplace of snake boat races. Thrissur Pooram, Attukal Pongala, Beema Palli Uroos and Chettikulangara Bharani are Kerala's main temple festivals. To enjoy the true charm of Kerala's backwater Kavvayi Backwaters Island should be on your list. Being a small city this is one of the least known tourist places to visit in Kerala and therefore a perfect place to get to know the local culture of the state. Peerumedu located in Idukki district is one of the most beautiful places in Kerala that has been immensely blessed by Mother Nature. Sabarimala located in Periyar Tiger Reserve is one of India's largest cities with temples and second largest in world thanks to greater number of pilgrims who visit it.
Munnar located on northeast coast of Kerala with its sun-kissed beaches surrounded by lush cashew plantations ancient temples splendid monuments and British Dutch-style buildings was my absolute favorite among all places I visited in Kerala because of its natural beauty.
